General information about the canvass

The next canvass of electors is due in July 2021.  The Electoral Registration Officer for each authority has a duty to ensure that the electoral register is kept up to date and accurate. We need to know who lives at each address in order to check who is eligible to vote. One of the ways we do this is by the Annual Canvass of Electors.

It is a legal requirement that we send out letters each year regarding the canvass and if we ask you for information it is also a legal requirement for you to provide this; if you don't you could be fined £1,000.
