Bike recycling schemes

Key Enterprises

Key Enterprises are a charity providing support training and development opportunities for people with mental health problems. One side of their many activities is recycling unclaimed stolen bikes donated from the Police to pass on to community groups and individuals in the borough. Prices start from just £15. Stock is often plentiful but varies from day to day, so a visit is always recommended.

Northumbria Youth Action (NYA)

Northumbria Youth Action (NYA) delivers training programmes to young people from the age of 14 upwards. It sets out to develop the attitudes, skills and capabilities they will need to continue into further education, training or working life. NYA offers a course in restoring old bicycles making them fit for the street. In the process of doing this, students learn a great deal about how they work and how they can be maintained and repaired. The bikes they produce are available to the public at great prices.
