Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)

The North Tyneside Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)

A JSNA is created to assess the health and social care needs of our population, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.

A JSNA is set of reports created by a range of stakeholders to provide an overview of the borough. It is a developmental process whereby ‘topics’ are added to our JSNA as and when the local needs and issues have been identified and understood across North Tyneside.

The JSNA will act as a resource to support health and wellbeing planning and commissioning across a whole range of stakeholders operating across the borough or in delivering highly targeted approaches.

Importantly it also assists in the tackling of health inequalities by highlighting differences in outcomes across the borough, and therefore supporting the delivery of the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

Health and wellbeing boards provide local strategic and collaborative leadership and use the JSNA as a tool to support the local service leaders to take a strategic view of the needs and assets in their areas.
