Unfortunately the funding bid to Heritage Lottery Fund to restore, conserve, and enhance the facilities at the Lighthouse and Visitor Centre was not successful, demand for funding far exceeded the available budget.
The lighthouse is important to local residents, as a high profile Grade II listed building, it is a significant asset to the borough. The council will continue to explore other options to secure the funding required to carry out essential repairs to safeguard its future.
The council are currently reviewing the works required to replace the causeway and are hopeful these works could take place in 2019.
