Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail returns to North Tyneside

A Storytime trail about one of the world’s favourite children’s books returns to North Tyneside this weekend.

The World of Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail will be at Wallsend Library from Saturday 13 January until Saturday 24 February.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter was first published by Frederick Warne & Co, now part of Penguin Random House UK, back in 1902.

This interactive exhibition will be a walkthrough experience where little bunnies will be able to crawl under the garden gate, hide in a watering can and see their reflection in a mirror pool, just like Peter!

There will be photo opportunities and activities to take part in along the way and it is free to attend.

Norma Redfearn DBE, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing back the Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail to North Tyneside, after its success in 2022.

“Beatrix Potter has been enjoyed by families for generations. The exhibition really does capture the imagination of children and adults alike through beautiful artwork, interactive features, and additional activities.”

Beatrix Potter’s stories started life as picture letters written to the children of her family and friends. Often the characters in them were real animals she kept as pets including rabbits called Peter Piper and Benjamin Bouncer and a hedgehog named Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.

This trail is funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority Town & High Streets Fund.

Wallsend Library is open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am until 1pm on Saturdays.
