North Tyneside Council’s business support programme, The Business Factory, is inviting residents to start their business journey at an inspirational event.
The Business Factory is North Tyneside Council’s business support programme, for aspiring entrepreneurs and established businesses and social enterprises.
The programme, which was refreshed in 2023, supports residents to develop their business idea, explore entrepreneurship, or grow their existing business or social enterprise.
The service offers support through its new website and online Business Toolbox, boasting free business ideas, resources, diagnostic tools and more, accessible 24/7.
Available is a refreshed programme of workshops, designed to inspire big ideas, and give residents a toolkit to start their own business.
And now, The Business Factory is inviting local residents to an inspirational event: ‘Starting Your Business Journey’.
The event will provide residents with an introduction to the programme and an opportunity to find out more about the support available to start their own business.
The event will take place on Wednesday 17 April, at White Swan Centre in Killingworth, between 10am and 1pm.
Residents will learn about the types of businesses operating in North Tyneside, where to find customers and get inspired to generate their own business ideas.
The Business Factory delivery partners will be at the event to answer questions from residents and highlight the support they can offer.
Helen Smith McGuire, former owner of Messy Monkeys; a sensory play group for babies and toddlers, will give a talk about her experience as a business owner.
Helen set up Messy Monkeys in Whitley Bay in 2008; and has recently sold the business after 16 years of successful entrepreneurship.
Helen’s success is evidence that a small idea can lead to something incredible; she will talk about the importance of setting your own goals and working with your values to become your own version of success.
Director of Regeneration and Economic Development at North Tyneside Council, John Sparkes said: “The Business Factory is a fantastic support resource for residents interested in starting their own business.
“Whether you’ve already got an idea, or are looking for inspiration, the event on 17 April is a brilliant opportunity to find out what’s on offer, and how to get started.”
To attend, residents must be aged 16+ and have a home address in North Tyneside.
Residents can find out more and confirm their attendance on The Business Factory website.
