Hard Hat Tours of Spanish City

Consultation details

Residents and visitors were invited to apply for places at a number of special tours of the restoration work at Spanish City Dome. The aim was to showcase progress with the restoration work and give people the opportunity to see what was happening with the works inside the building. Visitors on the tours were encouraged to leave feedback and comments which will be used as part of the evaluation report at the end of the restoration scheme which is required by our funding partner Heritage Lottery. Residents were also encouraged to take photographs and send them back to the Authority for use in either the revised ‘Dome of Memories’ book which will be available to coincide with the reopening of the building in June 2018. The photographs will also form part of the interpretation works to be undertaken in the building which will showcase the building’s history. The feedback we have received via the Whitley Bay Seafront Masterplan Facebook page has been very positive and comments received following the Hard Hat Tours have been very complimentary. We are very grateful for the positive comments and photographs that residents and visitors have taken the time to share with us.
