The current budget for Adult Social Care in North Tyneside in 21/22 is £54,947,400 which is 36.59% of the Authority’s net budget. There is increasing demand on adult social care services, which need to be managed to make sure the correct level of support is available to those in need as set out in the Care Act 2014.
The Care Act 2014 enables Councils to charge for Adult Care Services and sets out that those charges must be fair and equal as well as being clear and transparent. People in receipt of services through adult social care have a financial assessment to determine how much their contribution will be based on their ability to pay.
Any increase in charges would only be to the individual’s assessed maximum charge based on their individual financial assessment. This focus is to ensure that the Council can continue to provide quality services to all people and charge people according to ability to pay
