Local Government Boundary Commission consultation
Consultation details
Have your say on a new political map for North Tyneside Council
New boundaries are being proposed for council wards in North Tyneside Council.
The Local Government Boundary Commission wants to hear what residents and local organisations think about the proposals. A 10-week consultation on the proposals will run until 17 April 2023.
This is the second stage of consultations, the first having taken place from August to November 2022.
The Commission is the independent body that draws these boundaries. It is reviewing North Tyneside to make sure councillors will represent about the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements will help the council work effectively.
The Commission has published proposals for changes to North Tyneside. It is proposing that there should be 20 wards and three councillors per ward. All ward boundaries will change.
Proposed changes include:
• Killingworth will be united in a single ward
• North Shields will be represented in its own ward
