NORTH SHIELDS PUBLIC REALM PHASE 2 (BEDFORD STREET AREA) IMPROVEMENTS (Traffic Movements) (Consolidation) Order 2022
Variation Orders 2024
North Tyneside Council gives notice that it proposes to make a variation order under Sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the orders, if made, will be to vary the North Tyneside (Traffic Movements) (Consolidation) Order 2022, so that:
the prohibition of motor vehicles (pedal cycles permitted) on the following lengths of road be revoked on:
Bedford Street, North Shields from its junction with Percy Street south to its junction with Russell Street and include exemptions (a,b,c,d,f and g)
Wellington Street, North Shields at a section of Wellington Street West west of its junction with Little Bedford Street and include exemptions (a,b,c,d,e,f,g and h)
2. the prohibition of all vehicles motor vehicles (including pedal cycles) on the following lengths of road be revoked on:
a) Bedford Street, North Shields from its junction with West Percy Street in a southerly direction to its junction with Railway Street and include exemptions (a,b,c,d and f)
b) Russell Street, North Shields from its junction with Bedford Street in a westerly direction to its junction with Nile Street and include exemptions (a,b,c,d and f)
3. One Way Restriction on the following length of road be revoked on:
a) Wellington Street West, North Shields from its junction with Rudyard Street in an easterly direction to its junction with Little Bedford Street
4. the prohibition of right-hand turns for vehicular traffic on the following length of road be introduced:
a) into Bedford Street, North Shields from Russell Street, North Shields and include exemptions (a,b,d, and g)
b) into Railway Terrace, North Shields from Rudyerd Street, North Shields and include exemptions (a,e and g)
5. the prohibition of left-hand turns for vehicular traffic on the following lengths of road be introduced:
a) into Bedford Street, North Shields from Wellington Street, North Shields and include exemptions (a,b,d, and g)
6. Pedestrian and Cycle Zones on the following length of road be introduced on:
a)Bedford Street, North Shields at its junction with West Percy Street, to its junction with Saville Street and include exemptions (a,b,d, and g)
7. the prohibition of entry for vehicular traffic on the following lengths of road be introduced:
a) into Bedford Street, North Shields from Bedford Street, North Shields (at its junction with Russell Street) and include exemptions (a,b,d and g)
b) into Bedford Street, North Shields from Bedford Street, North Shields (at its junction with Wellington Street) and include exemptions (a,b,d and g)
c) into Railway Terrace, North Shields from Railway Terrace, North Shields (south-west of its junction with Rudyerd Street) and include exemptions (a,e and g)
8. the Prohibition of Goods Vehicles over 7.5 Tonnes on the following lengths of road be introduced on:
a) Bedford Street, North Shields at its junction with West Percy Street, to its junction with Saville Street and include exemptions (a,b,d and g)
