TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on:
Backworth
Rotary Road (A186) from the junction with Station Road to the junction with Earsdon Road.
An alternate route is available via Station Road, Earsdon Road, with access to Algernon Drive maintained via the bridge on Earsdon Road. In addition, there will be a diversion into the Hotspur North estate by way of Station Road, Backworth Lane, Killingworth Avenue.
The proposed temporary Order is required to safely accommodate plant, vehicles and deliveries associated with the removal of a crane that is currently situated on Algernon Drive Bridge. The crane will be tracked from its current position to the A186 where it will be dismantled.
The Order will come into force on 1 September 2025 lasting until 19 December 2025. When works commence they are expected to take 2 days only during this period, working nightshift hours. Advance signage will be erected prior to the works beginning.

Killingworth
Station Roads Level Crossing.
An alternate route is available via Station Road, Northumbrian Way, Southgate, Great Lime Road, Killingworth Drive and in reverse order.
The proposed temporary Order is required for drainage jetting works and will come into force on 14 and 19 September 2025 for a period not exceeding 1 day. Working hours will be from 20:30 until 05:30.

North Shields
Grey Street Lane from the junction with Coburg Street to the rear of number 102 Tynemouth Road.
An alternate route is available via Coburg Street, Tynemouth Road, North King Street.
The proposed temporary Order is required for a safe working area while excavating within the carriageway and will come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period not exceeding 3 days.
Howard Terrace from the junction with Albion Road to the rear of number 11 Upper Norfolk Street.
An alternate route is available via Albion Road, Stephenson Street, Suez Street.
The proposed temporary Order is required to excavate and clear a blockage in an existing duct and will come into force on 18 September 2025 for a period not exceeding 2 days.
Rosebery Avenue Lane from the junction with Walton Avenue to the rear of 11 St Andrews Court.
An alternate route is available via Walton Avenue, Rosebery Avenue.
The proposed temporary Order is required to provide a safe working area while excavating within the carriageway and will come into force on 24 September 2025 for a period not exceeding 3 days.

An alternate route is available via Rudyerd Street Lane, Rudyerd Street, Saville Street West.
The proposed temporary Order is required to replace an existing pole within the carriageway and will come into force on 23 September 2025 lasting until 24 September 2025.

West Moor

An alternate route is available via Comet Row, Blucher Road, Great Lime Road.
The proposed temporary Order is required to locate and excavate two blockages in an existing duct and will come into force on 3 September 2025 for a period not exceeding 3 days.
