Housing Letting Policy Review

North Tyneside Council is consulting on some proposed changes to the Lettings Policy including strengthening the criteria of the bandings, which is the priority level assigned to applicants based on their individual needs, and monitoring applicants in the highest bandings to ensure they are actively applying for homes.

Our budget for 2024/25 is driven by the key priorities that make up the Our North Tyneside plan – a thriving, secure, family friendly, caring and green North Tyneside.  We have a very clear and detailed plan, which will protect the most vulnerable members of our communities and continue investment in all parts of the Borough.

Adult Social Care review of charges

North Tyneside Council has a statutory duty to make sure the correct level of support is available to those in need as set out in the Care Act 2014.  It is therefore important for North Tyneside Council ensure it has sufficient funding to be able to meet increasing demands on adult social care services.

The options set out in this consultation have been carefully considered to ensure consistency in the way that people who receive Adult Social Care services from the Authority, or arranged by the Authority, are charged. 

Stopping the start: The Governments new plan to create a smoke-free generation

The Prime Minister announced  his plan to create a ‘smoke-free generation’ by ending cigarette sales to children aged 14 and under. This announcement was accompanied by the publication of the command paper ‘Stopping the start: our new plan to create a smoke-free generation’.

As part of this announcement we committed to launching a public consultation on smoking and vaping measures. We can now confirm that the consultation launched today and is now live. The consultation asks for views on 3 areas, in accordance with the command paper:

North East Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy consultation

Transport North-East, on behalf of the North-East Joint Transport Committee, want to ensure that people who live or work in the region have the opportunity to influence our proposals. A public consultation is being held for 5 weeks from Tuesday 3rd October to Tuesday 7th November. 

The public consultation is your opportunity to be part of its development and have your say on its impact and content. In addition, we want to hear any suggestions you might have which will help to shape the final document.
