North Tyneside Council Budget Engagement 2023/24

North Tyneside Council's budget for 2023/24 is driven by the key priorities that make up the Our North Tyneside plan – a thriving, secure, family friendly, caring and green North Tyneside.  We have a very clear and detailed plan to ensure anyone who needs support can access it, to help the most vulnerable members of our communities, and to continue investment in all parts of the Borough.

Update of Cycling Strategy and Design Guide

We are seeking people’s views on the updated draft North Tyneside Cycling Strategy.

The updated strategy sets a new target for an annual increase in cycling trips of 10 per cent, increased from seven per cent in the existing strategy. This follows continued investment in the cycling network, expansion of Bikeability cycle training in schools and increased popularity of initiatives such as the annual Summer of Cycling. It reflects the council’s wider aims set out in the North Tyneside Transport Strategy (updated 2021), North Tyneside Local Plan and Our North Tyneside Plan.

The current Policy came into force in February 2017 and has been updated to include the following changes:

Cost of living support

The rising cost of living, through increasing energy, food and fuel costs, is affecting many of us.

We are committed to supporting our residents, especially those most affected, and our businesses. On this page, you will find the support available from the Council, advice, and signposting to other relevant organisations. This includes help for families and individuals, whether you’re working or not.

The rising cost of living, and the support to help to deal with it, is changing quickly. We will regularly review and update these pages to reflect that.
