ARTWORK CHOSEN TO HELP NORTH TYNESIDE TO REMEMBER AND REFLECT THE PANDEMIC

Residents of North Tyneside have selected their favourite designs to feature in reflection areas being created across the borough.

Late last year, North Tyneside Council asked the public for their views on artwork to be included in five memorial areas that are being created to help people to remember and reflect on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The research will look at the different types and sizes of homes needed to buy and rent. It will also look at the housing needs of older people and those with disabilities and additional needs.

We have appointed the consultants ARC4 to carry out our new Strategic Housing Market Assessment. This assessment looks at the housing need and demand for the borough, we use it to inform strategies and local plans as well as development opportunities.

Seafront Sustainable Route

What do you think about our proposals to enhance walking and cycling along a permanent Sea Front Sustainable Route?

North Tyneside Council is inviting views on a permanent, segregated, two-way, safe space along the seafront between the North Shields Fish Quay and St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay for people using sustainable and active forms of travel.

Two-way traffic flow will be maintained between Whitley Bay and Tynemouth and the proposals also include improving road safety along the route by introducing a 20mph limit and various supporting traffic calming measures.

Active Hospitals Pilot

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is proud to be one of only four trusts in the country to have been chosen to take part in the Active Hospitals pilot.

This involves having conversations about being active and how this can play a part in preventing and managing long term conditions. To support this, they would like to develop branding that can be used on various materials and in their hospitals environments to prompt and encourage people to move more.
