Review of North Tyneside Tenancy Strategy

The Localism Act 2011 placed a duty on local housing authorities in England to publish a tenancy strategy that sets out what they expect from registered providers of social housing when formulating policies relating to:

The kind of tenancy to be granted.
The circumstances in which they will grant a tenancy of a particular kind.
Where they grant these tenancies for a term certain, the length of the terms and
Other circumstances in which they will grant a further tenancy on the coming to an end of an existing strategy.

The Household Impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Residents of local authorities in the North East are being asked to complete a voluntary survey into the impact of COVID-19, including views on vaccination, the economy and the easing of lockdown restrictions and social distancing. North Tyneside Private Sector Housing Enforcement and Civil Penalty Policy

North Tyneside Council is inviting views on the ways it tackles rogue landlords.

The local authority is introducing a new policy that sets out when and how enforcement action will be taken against landlords who do not comply with their legal obligations.

It follows approval by the council’s Cabinet of the use of extra powers, including civil penalties of up to £30,000, to enforce private sector housing standards.

State Of The Area event 2020 INFORMATION ONLY

Every year the Elected Mayor calls for a State of the Area event as detailed in the Council’s Constitution. The Authority’s approach to the event this year was somewhat restricted as it had to be conducted in-line with Government COVID-19 secure guidelines.  In person, face to face engagement was not able to take place so for the first time the event was held online.
