Central Lower Promenade Project

Residents were invited to exhibition events over 2 days to view proposals to reconstruct Central Lower Promenade. Plans and other information were displayed at Whitley Bay Customer First Centre and officers from the project team were on hand to answer any queries. Residents were encouraged to leave feedback by completing questionnaires. The feedback received was used to inform a consultation report - see below. The authority would like to thank everyone who shared their views as part of this engagement exercise.

Public Spaces Protection Orders

North Tyneside Council developed proposals to introduce Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) in the borough. PSPOs are designed to tackle activities that have had, or are likely to have, a detrimental effect on the quality of life of local communities. The power to make PSPOs has been brought about by new Anti-Social Behaviour legislation. Our proposals related to dog control and the consumption of alcohol in public spaces in the borough that we knew were areas of key concern for our residents.

Swim Open Days 2017-2018

Sports and Leisure are taking part in the Swim Local Pilot which is a project funded by Sport England to look at ways to increase swimming in the community. As part of this project one of the barriers we were looking to overcome was to ‘improve access to our facilities’. So to do this we wanted to organise Swim Open Days at the four pools in the borough removing the barrier of cost to swimming and looking to get some new members of the community into the facilities for the first time.

Sports and Leisure Cleanliness Surveys 2016 and 2017

Sports and Leisure carried out surveys with service users within our facilities to determine how they rate our standards of cleanliness across all areas. This information was given on a voluntary basis. The feedback is used to make improvements where necessary based on customer’s comments. Our aim is to have 100 surveys from each of the 5 sites completed during each exercise. Thank you to all customers who took the time to complete a survey. Each site will carry out improvements based on the feedback received.

Hard Hat Tours of Spanish City

Residents and visitors were invited to apply for places at a number of special tours of the restoration work at Spanish City Dome. The aim was to showcase progress with the restoration work and give people the opportunity to see what was happening with the works inside the building. Visitors on the tours were encouraged to leave feedback and comments which will be used as part of the evaluation report at the end of the restoration scheme which is required by our funding partner Heritage Lottery.

Safer North Tyneside Partnership - Community Safety Strategy 2019-2024

The Safer North Tyneside Partnership has identified some community safety priorities for the next five years in a new draft Community Safety Strategy which will replace the current strategy when it expires in 2019. We are seeking views from partners and members of the public and our resident’s panel about these priorities. Responses to these questions will be taken into account by the Safer North Tyneside Partnership Board when deciding the final priorities. The final version of the Strategy will be agreed at the SNT Board in early May 2018 and we can share that with our resident’s panel.
